The end of the 23-24 NBA season = off-season chaos

With the Boston Celtics winning the NBA championship the 2023-2024 NBA season is officially over. Now all we have to look forward to are two things: free agency and next season. Earlier today there was huge, breaking news in the NBA-world. Shocking news, really. Of course, it involved the Chicago Bulls – the leagues most incompetent organization and front office.

Both Bulls fan’s and other fans around the league were very surprised by this news from Woj:

The reason so many people were shocked by this is because for the longest time the Bulls refused to even negotiate trading Caruso. He was one of our best defenders and probably our hardest worker. When his trade value was sky high, and they were getting incredible offers for him, they said no. Now, they traded him to the Thunder for ONE GUY. They didn’t even attempt to get any draft picks. OKC has a huge stockpile of first round draft picks, and Arturas (the general manager) couldn’t even bother to get one in return. I know I’ve called this man stupid before, but maybe that was an understatement. The things I want to say right now would not be appropriate for this blog lol.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Josh Giddy. He’s young, he’s athletic, and hopefully he will do very well. But to trade a guy like Alex Caruso, one of the best defenders in the NBA, and not even get any draft capital in return is beyond stupid. The Bulls look like fools, specifically Arturas K. I just can’t comprehend why he made that trade. Why didn’t he try to grab some draft picks? He knows the Thunder have plenty of them to spare. This is just so insane to me and to everyone else who enjoys the NBA. The Bulls are a laughingstock right now thanks to this man. I just don’t understand.

If any of you are on X, and follow all the NBA news, you’ve probably seen people talking about how “the Bulls got fleeced!” and people asking “why wouldn’t you try to get draft picks?”. It’s just so insane to me. I can go on about this for a long time, as most of my readers know lol so I am going to move on.

There are still rumors floating around about potential teams interested in a Zach LaVine trade. At this point, just let the guy go. I hope they trade him, it sucks to say, but he deserves a better organization. His trade value is apparently very high right now, or still rising, so I am hoping Bulls management does not screw this up when the time comes. However, I can’t help but feel doubtful because they are morons. They just botched a very, very simple Alex Caurso trade! Okay, okay, I said I would stop talking about that.

Honestly, and I am probably being dramatic right now, I don’t know if I’m even going to waste my time watching the Bulls next season. What’s the point? The organization does not care about winning, or drafting well, or anything related to either of those things. So why should I tune in? (I’m probably going to tune in. I can’t help it.)

I’m just so ready for football season. The Bears are going to be good, Caleb Williams is an exciting player, and I will finally have a team that gives me hope. Not to mention, weather-wise, football season is perfect. It’s been way too hot around here lately, it needs to cool off a bit! I know I’m going to regret saying that in the winter months, but right now I mean it!

I have my Woj alerts on X ready to go, so whenever he tweets another off-season/free-agency trade, I’ll be ready to see if it’s another dumb move by the Bulls. It’s gonna be an exciting summer for basketball fans, and I can’t wait to see what happens.
