Also known as “Easter number 2” for our little family
Christ is Risen! (“Truly He is Risen!”) Easter number 2 started last Friday (which was our Good Friday). I spent the day working unfortunately, and it was a busy day so it kinda stunk. However, that night I was finally able to make it to church for the a late service. As always it was really beautiful. The church looked great with all the flowers and everything else set up for the Easter services that were coming on Saturday and Sunday.
I’ll have to show you guys my church some time. Maybe I’ll do an exploring the region post on it. Anyways, after the service on Friday some of my friends from church (we were all altar boys together) got together and this place called R Bar. It’s a cool place, they have live music (and to be honest, I don’t like it. I love live music, but not at R Bar. They play inside and it’s always too loud. Oh my gosh I sound so old). They also have an outdoor patio that backs up to a car dealership lol. It’s a cool place though, and we had a good time reminiscing about the good-old-days and catching each other up on the present and the exciting future we all have in store for us.
On Saturday it was beautiful here in the region. I think it was about 80 degrees so I put my tank on and went to cut the grass. Somehow, without sunscreen on, I managed to get sunburned. So that really hurt for a couple of days. Afterwards I hung out with Baby O, put him down for a nap and finished all the work I couldn’t get to on Friday. That night I had planned to go to the night service at church. It starts at 10:30pm, and I usually go. It’s really, really beautiful. However, this year I was so tired. Very exhausted. So I decided not to go. We did, however, go as a family to the Sunday morning service. There was nobody there.
Maybe, like, fifteen people lol. Everyone went the night before and had stayed for the lamb dinner. When you stay after the night service to eat, you end up there until 1 or 2 in the morning. It’s a huge celebration – it is the resurrection of Christ after all! Later in the afternoon we went to my moms. She made lamb, potatoes, dolmathes – which is a Greek dish made of grape leaves stuffed with meat -, salad, pastitsio (which is another Greek dish, made of baked pasta and ground beef, among other things), and a lot more. It was quite the feast! After we ate there, we all went to one of my aunts house, where they had a huge gathering and lots more food.
It was a really great, and filling, weekend. I’m glad I got to spend it with my family.
Christ is Risen!
Peter
