Not from me. No, no, don’t take life advice from me lol.
The other day I was on X and I saw a post from Mike Hoffman. He was sharing these videos he’d found and thought they were interesting, and I do too so I wanted to share them. He starts his thread off by telling us what he found: “I found a guy who goes around the US asking 70-100 – year – olds their:
- Biggest regrets
- Biggest lessons
- Advice to their younger self
Oddly enough, most of their answers are the same…”
He then goes on to list his top 8 videos from this other man’s series. It was really fascinating and helpful listening to these people, who have so much life experience and wisdom, share what they truly believe to be life’s greatest lessons. So, I wanted to share them with you. Here is the link to the post with all of the videos: https://twitter.com/MrPassive_/status/1777677318611255482
At the end of his thread he summarized the important things these people learned, and the lings they regretted: “Health, Family time, Experiences, Relationship, Enjoying each other….& they realized money & working hard is not important…” It’s a really great thread and I hope some of you take the time to watch these videos.
My thoughts on it are this: I agree that health, family time, relationships, experiences, etc. are very, VERY important. I prioritize those things over everything. I also agree that money and working hard are not AS important, but I still think they are important. I think money is important in our materialistic world because it helps you provide for your family and buy things, and decent money only comes from working hard. So, yes, I believe those two are important. I’m not implying the original poster is saying money and hard work are not important and people shouldn’t focus on them, I am just stating my opinion.
Some of these videos are sad. For instance there’s a man who wishes he could spend more time with his father, and tell him how much he loves him. Or someone who wishes they took that chance when they were younger but didn’t. We all have regrets but, as we can see from the videos, we all learn from them and they help shape us into who we are today. We become better people from the things we regret, because we know what not to do now.
It’s a really cool and interesting thread, and I hope you will check it out.
