Hi everyone! I’m trying to get myself back in the groove of blogging regularly, but I’m afraid I have been in a rut the last few months. It’s like a forever – writers block. I haven’t been able to consistently find things to write about. Maybe it’s because I’m exhausted. Or maybe it’s because there just hasn’t been a lot going on in my life. Who knows!
Anyways, I had something a bit funny happen to me today so I wanted to share it in case some of you needed a laugh. Honestly I don’t know if it’s even funny to anyone else but me, so we will see. About eight years ago I was applying all over the place. I was looking for job on Glassdoor, Indeed, Google, etc. Sending my applications out like crazy. There was this one company that really stuck out to me that I was interested in, so I applied.
Well, I never heard back, got my current job and forgot about applying to the other place. Fast forward to today. Eight years LATER…and what do I receive in my email? A rejection letter for a position I applied to almost a decade ago lol! I couldn’t help but laugh when I read that at work today. Of course, I had to reply “Thank you for getting back to me so quickly!”. I thought I was so funny. Until I received an email back almost immediately saying my message was blocked because the email they sent the rejection letter from was a no – reply email. Ugh, so no one even saw my joke. I guess that could be the funny part of the story as well.
I wonder what took them so long. Did they finally fill that position and are just now sending out rejection letters? It’s all so strange. I’m trying to keep my head up after all of this. I won’t let it keep me down. Rejection is hard, especially after waiting day and night for eight years straight to hear back from this company. Every night I would wonder why I didn’t hear back, and every morning I would check my email, full of hope, waiting for that response to come through. Some things just aren’t meant to be, I guess.
Oh well.
Have a good night!
Peter
