Thanksgiving 2023

My holiday weekend started last Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving.

We were lucky enough to get off work early, so my work-day ended at 3:30pm instead of 5. Our original plan was to drive down to my in-laws on Wednesday, but we decided against it because we didn’t want to drive in the dark with the baby in the car.

This was great for me because I was not packed lol. So I packed Wednesday night. Come Thursday and it was officially Baby O’s first Thanksgiving! He spent two and a half hours of it in the car, but we had a nice nap. I drove the whole way. Don’t feel bad for me, I wanted to because whoever drives gets to choose what we listen to!

I chose to put on Pardon My Take. It’s a Barstool Sports podcast and one of my favorites. The drive flew by and suddenly we were at my in-laws. Baby O was awake by that point and all smiles for his grandparents (of course lol).

After relaxing for an hour or two the food was finally ready! It was delicious. We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes (which the baby tried and did not like), green bean casserole, and a few other things. Forgive me for not remembering the entire menu, it was almost a week ago lol.

It was all so good. By the end of the meal I was already regretting eating all of that, but I knew I was going to have more in a couple of hours. For desert we went to a family members house and spent some time with other relatives. It was nice to see everyone and meet a few new people. Once again I stuffed my face with food. Mostly Pumpkin pie but I balanced it with some carrots and celery. That counts right?

Friday morning came along and I felt horrible. I ate way too much the night before. So what did I do? I went downstairs, had a bagel and watched tv with Baby O for a little while. Then, I had a ton of leftovers and more pumpkin pie. I’m not kidding when I say I think I ate almost the entire tray of pumpkin pie and my in-laws lol. Not good! (Well, good but not good. You get my point).

Saturday we had our nephews birthday party. He’s growing so fast I can’t believe it. He had all his little friends and cousins at this trampoline place. I can’t remember what it was called but the kids had a blast. I’m so happy whenever Oliver gets to see and spend time with his older cousins.

On Sunday it was time to go home. Lea was staying at her parents because they were flying out to California for a few days. So it was me and my boy on the long journey home. I was so ready to leave. We just had to stop for gas and food. When we got to the gas station someone just had to start pooping. And no, it was not me. Instead of changing his diaper in the car, out in the cold rain, I turned us around and drove him back to my in-laws so he could be changed in warmth! lol I was not happy. When I’m ready to get on the road I am ready.

He slept the whole way. It was great. Although we did drive through a ton of snow, which was a bit scary at times, but we made it!

Before I go, I just want to say what I am thankful for. I am thankful for God answering my prayers and blessing us with a healthy, beautiful baby. I’m thankful for my wife who is always there for our family and does so much for us. I’m thankful for many other things, but I won’t bore you with those now.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

Peter
