Hello everyone. Happy Sunday! Well, happy Sunday to all of you normal folks who aren’t obsessed with Chicago Bulls basketball.
Today I just wanted to let off some steam because this organization as a whole is driving me insane. Its become clear that ownership, management, and even some players no longer care about winning.
For ownership and management, you can tell they no longer care by who they drafted in the last couple of years. I don’t mean to be rude towards these players. They didn’t choose to join this team and be propped up as great players. However, the truth is they are not great players, and they won’t ever be. All it would take to fix [a small part of] this mess would be for management to admit they made mistakes and then try to fix it. But they don’t do that.
You can also tell they don’t care by how they have been preaching “continuity” the last three or four years (I don’t know how long it’s been. It feels like eternity in basketball hell). Again, all they would have to do is admit that their plan didn’t work, and fix it. But they won’t do that. The pairing of Lonzo Ball, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic started off great. The were the first team in the Eastern Conference. Then Lonzo Ball got injured and never returned. They really put this whole team on one guy, and if he gets hurt it’s game over for the entire organization. That’s not great planning, is it? No.
Last night was an embarrassment against the Miami heat. About five minutes into the first period, the Bulls were losing 20 – 1. HOW PATHETIC. What an embarrassment to the entire city and all the fans. Of course, ownership doesn’t care. They still rake in millions of dollars off of Michael Jordan.
For the players, you can tell they are all over this experiment. Zach LaVine has vocally said he would be happy being traded. It would be sad to see him go but he needs a better organization. He’s finally healthy and wasting good years in Chicago with ownership who doesn’t’ care about him, the fans, or winning. Last night it was clear he is 100% done. After the Bulls somehow came back and won (thanks to THE BENCH. Not even the starters.), he was supposed to stop and do a postgame interview. However, as the reporter reached for him to do the interview, he shrugged her off and headed straight to the locker room. It was the most unprofessional thing I have ever seen him do. To be fair, he did say it was a “miscommunication” but I don’t think people are believing that.
It sucks being a Bulls fan right now. Hopefully one day, before I pass on to the next life, I will see them build a good team and win a championship. Until then, I am calling for the Reinsdorfs to sell the team. It would make everyone so much happier, and the team so much better in the long run.
Sorry for the dramatics, but I had to get this off my chest!
Peter
