Secret Rooms & Season Openers

Yesterday was an exciting day for me. I went into Chicago for work and ended up finding a couple “secret rooms” on the 40th floor of our building. They aren’t really secret, I just never went up there until yesterday after work. I took pictures and I’m excited to show you what I saw! It was beautiful. Afterwards, I went to the Bulls first game of the season with one of my friends. It was a fun night!

Once five – o – clock hit I slammed my laptop shut and made my way down to the lobby. In order to get to the 40th floor, you have to go all the way downstairs and get on a different set of elevators. It wasn’t as confusing as I thought it would be. I just had to scan my keycard and press “40” on the elevator lol. As I stepped off the elevator I got a bit of a chill. It was way too quiet up here. It kind of creeped me out in a way. I made my way through the big doors to my right (despite feeling like I shouldn’t be up there) and was surprised by what I had stumbled upon.

It was a really big, fancy library. It had little nooks to study and read in, spiral staircases going up to another level, large chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and big glass windows showing you an incredible view of the city. It also had larger tables and chairs to sit at as well. It was incredible. I felt like I was in a mansion (or Hogwarts! lol). I pulled out my phone to take pictures and videos to show Lea because I knew she would think it was cool. As I was creeping around I heard someone walking towards me. I thought I was going to get in trouble! Turns out, it was just the cleaning staff doing their work. I waved, he waved back. It was a short interaction.

Throughout my search of the library I started to pick up on something. “This isn’t a normal library” I thought. I started pulling random books out and reading the titles. They varied from “Supreme Court vol. 1” to “Law” something. Turns out, the whole place is filled with history books about law and court cases. I thought it was really cool. It must be a place where law students go to study or something. I’m not sure, but it was definitely interesting! Once I got bored of the library I went through this other door, which took me to a huge bar and lounge area. There were tables everywhere, huge tv’s on the walls, a pool table, and of course, giant windows showing the city.

One thing I noticed about the bar was that it was fully cleaned out. It was like nobody had been there in years. No beer in the fridge, no whiskey on the shelves, nothing. I found that strange. It was also odd that all the TV’s were on, but the place seemed closed. I wonder if it’s just for hosting events and not an actual hang out spot/bar. Again, I don’t know. I don’t know anything! So, as I waited patiently for my Lyft to come pick me up, I sat on the big blue couch and watched four different things at once on the huge tv. It was awesome! FYI the gallery is being weird (or I just forgot how to use it) so here are the pictures I took:

Alright that’s enough of those for now lol. So, as I was sitting there on the couch watching Tv, I heard the elevators open and voices heading my way. I worried for a minute because I thought another company in the building had rented it out for an event, and they were going to walk in to me sitting there in this huge room all by myself watching TV lol. However, that wasn’t the case.

A few seconds later, a man walked in. He appeared to be leading a group of interns. I’m assuming college interns by their ice – breaker – game they did. It was so weird. They were all standing there a few feet behind me, talking and introducing themselves, and I am just sitting on the couch “watching TV”. That’s in quotes because I was obviously listening to them. It was hard not to!

Finally, my phone vibrates and I see that my Lyft is going to arrive any minute to take me to the United Center (where the Bulls play). To my delight, he was early. So I hopped in and had a nice quiet ride to the game. I love when the drivers don’t want to talk much. It makes it less awkward lol. On the way there I saw many things. I saw tons of traffic (which isn’t unusual in the city), I saw schools, apartments, football fields with bleachers that had people making out on them (it was disgusting).

A few minutes later and I was there – finally. I met up with my friend and we went to grab some food and find our seats. It was so nice being back at the UC. Unfortunately, the Bulls did not play well. They lost their first game of the season, and the home – opener, by twenty points. To say I was livid is an understatement. They couldn’t make any shots. It was embarrassing. On the bright side, they had free shirts on all of the seats! That was awesome lol.

It was a great time. I’ll go more in-depth about the Bulls on another post. This has gone on long enough lol. Overall, it was an interesting and fun day! I hope you enjoyed this post and all of the pictures. Please share and subscribe!
