Life – moving (?), work update, & Halloween

Hello everyone! I hope you’re having a good week so far. Mine’s been alright I guess. I’ve just been working like the rest of you. There has been a few things going on, and a few things on the way, and I wanted to give a little life update.

First let’s talk about the move. As most of you probably know, we have been trying to sell our house (and we almost did!). However, after speaking with our great realtor, we decided at the end of the month, if there are no offers, we are going to take our house off the market (at least until spring time). It’s been a tough few months trying to sell it to help out my commute, but I will admit it will be nice to have our own space again for a little bit. Once spring time comes we will reassess and see what happens.

If you’ve been following the life of this random Indiana man for a while, you know I commute into downtown Chicago three times a week. And you also know I can’t stand it (part of the reason we are trying to sell our house)! However, in my department a new position has come up, and to my surprise it is a permanent work from home one! I was pleased when first saw it, but was unsure about the hours. “9:30-6pm” the posting read. “Sometimes 9:30-8pm” but that would be rare. It’s not horrible, and I have all the qualifications for it, so thankfully I was able to throw my hat in the ring today. The cut off was on the 13th, and I forgot to reach out to my manager before I left for vacation to let her know I am interested (whoops!), but thankfully she reached out to me again today to ask if I still wanted to put my name in for it. So, we will see what happens with that. It’s exciting! I’d be doing the same job, in the same department, so not much would change. I’d just be from home full – time which I would love!

Recently our church started up our youth groups and Sunday School classes again. More families are coming back to church and bringing their kids. And more people are starting families (like us!), so the people in charge thought it would be a good idea to start all the fun things up again. I love it. Going to Sunday school and having the youth group growing up was a great experience for me, and it’s where I made lifelong friends. I hope all the kids (and our little baby O) get to have the same experience!

With Halloween coming up, they are throwing a little Halloween party for the kids this Saturday. We’ve decided to take Oliver, even though he’s only seven months old and can’t talk yet, but that’s okay lol. We are going as the Monsters Inc. crew (if you haven’t seen that movie check it out!). Oliver loves those movies. He likes the colors and laughs at the goofy characters. Little baby O is going as Mike Wazowski (aka Googley Bear), Lea is going as Celia Mae (aka Schmoopsie – poo), and I am going as the best character in the film, Sulley. It’s going to be a blast and I’m so happy we were able to do a themed Halloween costume with our little monster!

Beside all that, there hasn’t been much else going on. We’ve been busy and tired with work and parenting so all the extra stuff we like to do has been put on hold. Not to mention it’s all so expensive and we’re trying to save money (like most people these days).  So, there is my life update for the last week or so. I hope you enjoyed this post. 1. Sorry you weren’t able to find the right buyers for the house but hopefully you will in spring. The Halloween party sounds so fun, I loved the Monsters Inc. when I was younger, such a fun movie. Hope Oliver has a great time.
