Happy spooky season!

Happy spooky season everyone! October is finally here, which means Halloween is right around the corner. I typically enjoy this time of year. The leaves change color and fall down, the air gets a little crispier, and pumpkins start taking over our towns. There’s many reasons to love this time of year, and tonight I wanted to share a few things I love about the spooky season.

First, Baby O is officially seven months old! Where has the time gone? I say this every month, but it’s just crazy how fast he is growing. We had planned on going to a pumpkin patch this past weekend, but we settled for a cozier alternative. Since Baby O is, well, a baby, Lea went out and bought one big pumpkin and brought it home. She carved a hole in the top and two on the sides. If you haven’t guessed it yet, those two holes on the sides were for Baby O’s chunky legs!

As much as I protested putting our baby in a pumpkin, I have to admit he looked really cute and the pictures turned out great. We had a fun 10-15 minutes getting some fresh air outside while we were trying to make him laugh and smile.

Aside from that, it is also his first Halloween! We’re just going to pass out candy though, this year. There’s no point to trick – or – treat because all the houses would know the candy is for Lea and I lol. I’m also looking forward to watching a couple Disney – Halloween classics again. Lea and I try to watch Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown every year to celebrate the season and all the spookiness that ensues.  Sometimes we throw Eddie Murphy’s Haunted Mansion in the mix, but that’s if we’re really feeling it.

This time of year I also love to listen to Jim Harold’s Campfire (available wherever you get your podcasts). No, this is not a paid advertisement, I just really love his show. I listen to it all year long, but there’s just something about listening to those stories when Halloween is quickly approaching. I encourage whoever is reading this to check it out! I don’t think you will be disappointed (and if you want the best stories, you can listen to his “best of” show he will most likely put out around Halloween! Don’t hold me to that, I am just assuming we will get a show like that soon.).

I was also looking for a Halloween – ish show to watch this month, and I found it thanks to one of my cousins. It’s called What We Do in the Shadows, and it’s streaming on Hulu. It’s hilarious. It’s about a few vampires and their familiar (basically their servant), and it’s shot documentary style, just like The Office. It’s pretty funny and I recommend it! I chose the more comical show because I don’t really do scary or horror films/shows lol. Not my thing!

What do you love about this time of year? Let me know in the comments!
