Today I had a near – death experience. Well, not really. Maybe I’m exaggerating a little bit because I know Lea’s eye’s will roll to the back of her head when she reads this. But something did happen and it was a little bit scary!
After being sick all last week, I finally returned to my normal commute to Chicago this morning. It was cold, rainy, and loud outside. Lots of thunder and lightning. After I walked onto the train and sat down, a big lightning bolt struck the area I had just walked by! I am not kidding. It struck the train and took out all of the power. Not even a minute after I boarded. It was loud and there were lots of sparks. I’m not ashamed to say I jumped lol everyone on the train jumped. I’ve never seen anything like it!
So we sat there for 20 minutes until they fixed whatever issues it caused and we were on our way. What a way to start the day, am I right? It was wild! Aside from nearly dying, there were a few other things that went on recently. First, Baby O turned six months old last weekend! I don’t remember if I mentioned this in my last post, but if I did, sorry lol. I cannot believe how fast time has gone by. He’s already starting to learn how to crawl (kind of. He is starting to get his knees under himself, so sooner or later he will figure it out).
Last weekend was nice for another reason as well. We took little trip as a family. My cousin got married up in Michigan, so we all went away for the long weekend (Labor Day, for those wondering why it was a long weekend!). We stayed in a hotel and Oliver was SO GOOD. Like, I’m not just saying this as his biased father, he was such a good baby. So chill! He got to attend his first wedding, first Greek wedding, and met so many new family members. He loved it all. Here’s a pic of me and my beautiful bride. Isn’t she lovely?! (here comes an eye roll):

This coming weekend is also our five – year wedding anniversary. Again, I cannot believe how fast time goes by. It seems like just yesterday we were planning our wedding. We don’t have any huge plans to celebrate. We are going to go to this restaurant called The Lighthouse (check out my Exploring the Region series to learn about this place), and then we were going to go back to our house and watch movies. If you know us, you know that’s how we roll lol.
Ah, it feels good to be back on here and writing just for fun. Lately I’ve been feeling like it’s something I have to do instead of something I want to do. I guess I just got a little burnt out. Hopefully I’ll have more going on that I can write about. Oh man, as I’m typing this I just realized I had started a Get to Know post back in March when Oliver was born, and I never finished it lol. Maybe I will work on it soon. I don’t know. I’m rambling now. Alright, I should go. I have to be up early again for work. Pray I don’t get hit by lightning!
