Good evening. Tonight I wanted to answer a WordPress prompt I saw a few days ago. It caught my attention and I thought it would be easy to write about! It was “what do you love about where you live?”
What do I love about living in the region? So many things. First, I want to point out that Indiana is more beautiful than people think. A lot of people think of it as a fly – over state that’s all farmland. While that is true, it’s so much more – especially in the region!
The first thing that came to my mind is the sunset. Growing up in the region I spent a lot of time outside. I was always either with my friends or shooting hoops by myself in our driveway. The image that came to me when I read the title of this prompt was of me shooting around in my driveway, and stopping to look at the beautiful pink sky. In most places the sun sets, the sky turns pink – ish, but there’s just something different about it when you see it in the region. Staring at the beautiful pink and blue sky while the wind calmly smacks you in the face is refreshing.
The other thing I love about the region is the people (most of them anyways lol). I made many friends around here throughout my life and I’m grateful for every one of them. Even if we don’t talk anymore, or just not as much, they each brought something different to my life and taught me many things. The people around here are usually always kind and helpful, and that is why I love them! (and why I enjoy interviewing them). Everywhere you go you’re bound to run into someone you know, or knew. It’s really special running into old friends. Most of mine have left town and are living new lives somewhere in the country, and I’m happy for them. Do I wish I had done that? Sometimes, yeah. But Lea and I are right where we are supposed to be. If we weren’t, we wouldn’t have everything we have today.
Lastly, I love that most of my family is around. A majority of my mom’s family lives in the region, so it’s always fun hanging out and spending time with each other. There’s nothing like having family nearby. Honestly, if I had moved away and started a new life somewhere, I don’t know if I would like it. My family has always been close to me and I’m so used to having them here. I don’t know what I’d do without them!
The region is a great place to live, and there is so much to love about it. Tonight, I just wanted to share the things I love the most about living here. What do you love about where you live? Feel free to let me know!
