Exploring the Region Part 5

Hello and welcome back to Exploring the Region – where I share with you the cool places I’ve been to around Northwest Indiana. If you’re ever in the area, be sure to check these places out!

Throughout the last year or so I’ve mentioned that I am starting to get into vinyl records. I also mentioned that I received a record player from my grandparents that I LOVE! Something about vinyl and the way it sounds is just so satisfying. So, naturally, I’ve been looking for a place that I can go to in order to build up my collection and jam out to songs I love.

The place I found is called Reid Recordz. Per their Instagram bio, they are a “Family – owned Record shop in NWI” and you can find them at 545 E. 110th Ave, Crown Point, IN 46307 (CP Antique Mall – booth 319, bldg. 1). I’ve spoken to one of the owners recently, just for a few minutes through Instagram, and they are very polite and I can tell that they really enjoy their business and their customers! So please, if you’re in the region and are looking for some new records, check out Reid Recordz!

When I got there I already knew this was going to be a place I would be shopping at frequently. They have so many great options to look through! I think I spent at least an hour there going through everything lol. There were many that I wanted to buy, but I promised Lea I wouldn’t spend too much money 😐 , so I only ended up buying one lol (but I will be back!).

I picked Cat Stevens because I’ve been listening to him a lot on Spotify lately and it had the song Father and Son on this record (which I really enjoy because 1. I am a father now and 2. Because it’s in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 lol. I know it’s about the son trying to forge his own destiny and his father trying to give him advice, and although they disagree it’s a meaningful song and I love that. To me it just shows how much he loves his son).

Reid Recordz is a great little shop to buy from. The setup is cool, the people are friendly, and the records are great. They have so many artists that I love. They have some Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Elvis and so much more. I was just naming those artists because, as my readers know, I love their music. They also have multiple classic rock records to choose from, as well as country and pretty much whatever genre you are looking for. And if they don’t have it, they have a suggestion box for their customers opinions to be heard. I believe they try their best to find whatever their customers want.

Something about this place just felt friendly. Like I was going back to a time when vinyl was the most popular way to listen to music. They have such a great vibe going on there. So, as I’ve said many times already, check out Reid Recordz in Crown Point, Indiana! You will not be disappointed :).

I hope you all have had a great weekend, and I hope to write to you again soon.

Peter
