Last night was the NBA draft. Per usual, it was overly dramatic. “Oh look at this boy who made it to the league. What a hero.” It’s all usually nonsense lol. There are some guys who did have hard lives and a rough upbringing, but the “reporters” exaggerate the lives of these players every time. It’s quite annoying. Anyway, that is not even close to what I was planning to talk about today haha. It’s just something that bugs me every year! Let’s get into my real topic today: the Chicago Bulls (what else is new?)
The Bulls went into this draft with zero picks, no trades, and no future. While I’m not surprised, I am disappointed. They didn’t even try to do anything until later in the evening, when they acquired the 35th pick from the Washington Wizards and drafted Julian Philips. Per Chicago Bulls beat writer, Will Gottlieb, “19 year old Tennessee wing is a 6’8 wing, 7’wingspan” with a “insane 43 inch vert which let the [NBA] combine” however he is a “Poor 3pt shooter: 24% but shot 82% on FTs [free throws] and got to the line a TON.” So, as you can see, it’s not a horrible pick up. Who knows if they will even keep him. I’m just glad they did something without giving up Zach LaVine.
Chicago also picked up an undrafted center from UConn, Adama Sanogo. They signed him to a two – way contract. I know nothing about these two guys they picked up. I don’t watch college basketball. Honestly, I think college sports are a waste of time (no offense to the players). I also think professional sports are as well, that’s why I literally only watch the Bulls and the Bears. I don’t watch other teams games. I could be doing other things I enjoy! Back to my point, I don’t know much about these guys, but I do know one thing – they won’t get much playing time and will have a hard time adjusting to the league (maybe. Again, I don’t know them. I’ve never watched them play. I am just going off of what I know about the Bulls: they rarely play their rookies and they are horrible at developing young talent).
After the draft where just about nothing happened, the Bulls general managers decided to give a press conference. Sadly, they announced they don’t believe Lonzo Ball will be ready to play this season [due to his surgery and lingering knee issues]. They also stated they were going to address shooting this off season, and when entering free agency. Per KC Johnson at NBC Sports Chicago, Bulls’ Arturas Karnisovas has confidence ownership would pay luxury tax. AK stated he’d been given the “green light” from ownership to actually spend money. So, once again, we will just wait and see. In my opinion, we’re going to do all this waiting to just be disappointed again. This team gives me no hope! Lol
I hope you have a great weekend!
