It’s Memorial Day here in the U.S., where we remember those who bravely served in our military and sadly lost their lives. I know a lot of people enjoy the three – day weekend but this is what it’s really about – those who fought for our freedoms. So, thank you for everything and know you will never be forgotten!
As I said above, this is normally a three – day weekend. Meaning I was supposed to have today off (it’s a bank holiday), but instead I worked from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM! It’s okay though, I volunteered to cover the holiday shift lol. During my last performance review my manager told me that I’m doing well but “you need to try to volunteer for more holidays”. She’s right, I have been with my current employer for almost six years lol. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not lazy! I have volunteered for other holiday coverage, but people always seem to beat me to it (darn). Well, this time I was able to cover, and it wasn’t that bad.
I spent the [work] day listening to music, podcasts and an audiobook. I’m not sure why but all of those help me concentrate better on my work. It’s weird, you’d think hearing someone talking while you’re trying to concentrate would bother you but nope, not me. I love it lol. So it definitely helped the day go by a little faster! Once work was over I came out of my little office and into our family room to hang out with baby O and Lea. Surprisingly, I decided to go for a run. I say “surprisingly” because I haven’t worked out or exercised in MONTHS. It was tough but it felt really good. I’m hoping to go for a run at least twice a week from now on.
It’s beautiful outside here in the region today. I think it’s about 80 degrees!

After my run Lea and I made dinner. I grilled the steaks and she roasted the carrots. It made for such a good dinner.

Then we watched a DC movie called Shazam! and I forgot how entertaining it was. Tomorrow, maybe, we will watch the new one. Even though the DCU is recasting a majority of the characters, these two movies are still fun to watch with the family. Now, we’re waiting for game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals to start, and hoping for a Miami Heat victory over the Boston Celtics! I’d love to see former Bulls player Jimmy Butler go to the NBA finals. That’s the only reason I care about these games right now lol.
I hope you had all had a great weekend and I’ll talk to all again soon! Oh, the next Get to Know post should be ready to publish in about a week. I’m going to try to work on it this week and touch it up!
