Would YOU Recognize YOU?

Hello everyone! I hope your day went well. Mine was alright. I went to Chicago for work, then went to dinner with some family when I finally got back into town. Now, I’m finally home and able to write! (And play the new Hogwarts Legacy game. But that’s a post for another day lol). I was listening to something today and I heard an interesting story and thought I would share. 

Earlier today I was listening to an old Art Bell Coast to Coast episode that was uploaded on Spotify. If you don’t know who Art Bell is, he is a radio legend. He sadly passed a few years ago, but his voice lives on! Anyways, he always spoke about the strange and unexplained. Mostly aliens and different theories about time travel, the human species, etc. On this episode he did something goofy, which is what he normally does, but he had an intriguing caller. 

On this episode Art did an open lines segment, meaning that listeners could just call in un-screened and talk to him. However, he kept an open line for time travelers only. Obviously, you never know who is telling the truth and who is lying just for the heck of it, but it’s fun nonetheless. Of course he had callers who were kind of out there and obviously frauds. But there was this one that sounded authentic. A man who had something strange happen to him, and I have to say, I think I believe him. Strange things happen!

This man called in to tell Art about a time when he was a kid in elementary school. He was at recess and he was playing with his toys by himself, when an older man dressed in all white appeared out of nowhere. This man was asking him questions about his brother and parents and knew details a stranger would not know. This man claims when he was younger he met an older version of himself. He says as he grew older the memory stuck with him and the more he thought about it the more he is sure that old man was himself from the future. It’s such an interesting story. But then he asked this question to Art and it really made me think.

He said: “If you were to meet your [future self] today, would you recognize yourself?” Isn’t that an interesting question? I think as an adult I would definitely recognize myself, but I don’t know if I’d believe it. If this happened to me as a child, I don’t think I would recognize myself at all to be honest. It’s just a question and it’s interesting to think about, so I thought I would throw it out there for all of you to think about lol. Time is a strange thing, and we don’t really understand it like we think we do. 

Art had an interesting quote as well: “Time is God’s way of keeping everything from happening all at once.” I thought that was thought provoking too. Just some things I wanted to share with you all! So, what do you think? Would you recognize your future self if YOU approached YOU? Lol.
