DC Comics Storyline Part 4

Hello everyone! Welcome back for my DC Comic Storyline series, where I talk about the most recent comic’s I’ve read and give you a summary of what to expect if you decide to read them yourself!

Let me warn you…this is a very Superman – heavy post today. For my new readers, most posts in this series are not always just about Superman comics (just an FYI), but recently I was on a reading binge of my favorite hero. So let’s begin!

First up is Superman: Brainiac.  For those not familiar, Brainiac is a very popular Superman villain, appearing many times as a foe to the Man of Steel. He is basically an ET computer who can take human form. Here is a summary of this short series from the DC Universe Infinite App: “Decades ago, Krypton went to war with Brainiac, a cold and callous alien obsessed with the control of knowledge. Superman believes he’s face Brainiac before, but he’s about to learn the truth behind his close encounters as he heads down the road to his greatest triumph…and greatest tragedy.” I really enjoyed this story, and I think some of my interested readers will too!

This next one is my second favorite Superman comic (right behind Superman: Up in the Sky). It is called Superman: For all seasons. It’s a really great story that captures who Superman really is, and why he is the way that he is. Here is the summary from the app: “Book One: Spring! Watch the young Clark Kent grow from country boy into the Superman he’s destined to become – all told from the perspective of the man who raised him, Jonathan Kent!” Having this story be told from a different perspective is what makes it so great. Especially since it’s coming from his father’s point of view. Give it a shot!

Last on today’s list is Superman: Secret Origin. This one is also good, but it didn’t make my favorites list. It’s basically just an origin story of Clark Kent learning how to use his powers. It’s still really cool though! From the app: “The definitive origin of Superman kicks off as a young Clark Kent awkwardly discovers his new abilities while growing up in Smallville. Will he be able to accept his true origins as the last of of a dead planet? And get a whole new look at the beginnings of Superman’s deadliest enemy – Lex Luthor!” Like I said, it’s really good, but not what I’m looking for in order to put it on my favorites list. Still, give it a shot. Especially if you’re new to Superman and/or comics in general.

Thanks for reading and I really hope you’re enjoying this series! I’ve become pretty passionate about these comics lately, and I’m really enjoying myself while reading and writing about them. I hope you continue to follow along!
