Hey everyone! I hope your weekend has been going well. Mine has been alright. As I said in my last post, we are recovering from some sort of cold we had last week. So last night and today were two much needed rest days. We’re both feeling a lot better! Tonight is just an ordinary, relaxing Saturday night. Lea’s doing a puzzle and I am writing this post! Speaking of, tonight I wanted to talk about three more comic’s I recently read. I really think I found my favorite Superman story and I can’t wait to discuss it with you all.
The first storyline we’ll talk about tonight is a classic, so I obviously had to read it. It’s one of the biggest storylines (in my opinion) that DC has ever done. It’s called Crisis on Infinite Earths. Here is the summary: “Literally all the greatest DC Universe heroes from across time and space join forces to stop a being more powerful than any they’ve ever faced! But with existence crumbling around them, this may be a fight that no one walks away from. Don’t miss the classic story that altered the DCU forever!” As you can see, it was a huge event that changed a lot of storylines for a lot of characters. One of my favorite parts about it was the multiverse. I love this theory, that there are multiple universes, and other “me’s” and “you’s” out there. I just think it’s so cool to think about. The story itself was fantastic, and adding the multiverse theory into it was awesome. It was a fun read. It made me laugh, and it also made my jaw drop at certain points. It could be goofy and it could be sad. Overall, it was very well done and I’m so happy I read it!
If you like conspiracy and secret societies you will love this next storyline. It’s called Batman: Court of Owls. In this story, Batman discovers a secret society that has been in shadows of Gotham for centuries. They are a cabal of the wealthiest families and influential people in the city, and use any means necessary to shape the city to their liking. They use their money, political influence and murder to get their way. It’s a really cool story and it was refreshing to read about Batman fighting a new enemy for once. It was also thrilling to read as Batman used his detective skills in order to figure out who these people were, how they operated, etc. I really hope to see the Court appear in Robert Pattinsons The Batman universe. It would be awesome in live action! Once again, I recommend.
The last one I’m going to talk about tonight is probably my favorite comic ever. This one is called Superman: Up In The Sky and it really captures what Superman is all about. “A murder mystery in Metropolis puts Superman on the trail of a conspiracy that has galactic repercussions.” That doesn’t even begin to describe how great this story is. Without giving up too much… this story shows the length Superman will go to for just one person who seemed so insignificant. The trials he was put through and how he fought until the very end just to help one person. It’s truly an incredible story and the writing was beautiful. Like I said, it captures Superman’s character perfectly. I highly, highly recommend this story to anyone interested. It also has one of my favorite panels of Superman and Lois Lane. It’s actually my Lock Screen on my phone lol. It shows the pair sitting on the moon, watching the Earth. Superman in his suit (obviously) and Lois in a space suit. The writing is from Superman’s thoughts and point of view. It says “That night you ask her out. She says yes. And you watch the Earth rise.” It’s really a beautiful moment.
If any of my readers are DC fans, or just comic fans in general, give these three a shot! You won’t regret it. If you’re not a comic fan and you still read this, thank you! I appreciate it.
Alright, I guess it’s time I go back to trying to help with this puzzle Lea has been working on. Although, I don’t think she needs or wants my help. I suck at puzzles and I am just “in the way”. Her words not mine!
Have a great night, and thank you for reading!
Peter
