Saturday was a good day for me. It was filled with fun and family and one of the best Christmas movies!
Yesterday, Lea, myself, my mom and my aunt had the opportunity to go watch It’s A Wonderful Life at the Hoosier Theater here in the region. It’s located in Whiting, Indiana and is a very cool and historic building.
You can definitely tell it’s age just by walking it. It’s pretty cool!

We sat in the balcony section. It had a great view of the movie.

If you’re ever in Northwest Indiana I suggest you check this place out! Just by searching it through Google I learned that it’s been open since 1924 – how cool.
It was almost a packed house yesterday. Lots of people must enjoy this movie as much as I do. It’s A Wonderful Life is such a great story. Yes, today it might seem a little cheesy with the way they talk and all that, but the story of George Bailey almost ending his life, because he thinks he’s worth more dead than he is alive, and then realizing just how blessed he is with his family and his friends is heartwarming. It also shares a great lesson. In the movie George is always willing to help those in his community, and in the end they all end up helping him – and maybe even saving his life. It’s a simple message – always help those in need and be kind – but it’s so powerful in that movie.

After the movie we went out and had dinner with my family at this restaurant called Tzatziki in Hammond, IN. It’s a greek restaurant and makes really good food. After about an hour there I had to leave for an old friends going away party. He’s moving to California in January for work. Sad to see him go, but he’ll do great out there.
To close out the night, I went to my moms house – where Lea, my mom, my cousin who is back in town, and my aunt were all hanging out. It was fun! We just sat and talked for a bit. My cousin went to Greece recently and bought me this really cool statue of Hephaestus, the Greek god blacksmiths and everything in that field. I love it! Here it is next to my whiskey set up in my home office:

So, this was my Saturday exploring the region! It was a fun day filled with family and laughs!
