Last night I had a great dinner. I went to Exchequer Restaurant & Pub in downtown Chicago. It’s right there, on Wabash street, about a ten minute walk from my office. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend! And no, I did not miss the entire Bulls game (more on that below).
Let’s get back to dinner. As I said, I met my godfather for dinner at Exchequer. Its a really cool place with alleged connections to Al Capone and the mob (click link). My dad and my godfather used to go there when they were younger, whether it was just for dinner or before a White Sox game, it was their place apparently. They had a tradition, which I took part in last night, where the first one there (my godfather was first) orders the basket of fries, and the one that is late (me) gets the beers. There were some other traditions he had mentioned but they didn’t work out last night due to the place not serving those items anymore.

Regardless, it was a good time catching up. We spoke about our lives and caught up a bunch, and also about the Bulls (of course) among other things. It was a really fantastic night and I’m glad it worked out!

If you’re ever in Chicago and looking for a place to eat, definitely go here. If you like the mafia history, this is the place for you. Here is the link to their website where you can read about Al Capone and the history of this great restaurant: https://www.exchequerpub.com/history

Alright, now it’s time to talk about last nights Bulls game. I have one word: WOW. It was incredible. Zach LaVine was out, Lonzo was out, but the Bulls were ALL IN. They played so well. I was able to catch the last period, they looked great. It goes without saying but Demar Derozan scoring 37 points in the first game of the season against a title contending team (last season) is incredible. It gives us fans tons of hope for the year.
I will be at the game on Saturday at the United Center, and I can’t wait! It’s gonna be a good time. I honestly have nothing else to say, they played well. Now, it’s time to go make dinner. The menu for tonight is chicken pot pie, and no, I’m not making it from scratch. It’s obviously frozen! lol
Have a great night!
Peter
