This summer has flown by, and a lot has happened. I’ve been pretty busy, which is why I haven’t posted much. However, tonight I don’t have any plans so finally have some time to write.
Let’s start with the sport of golf. It’s been a new hobby of mine this summer. In July I was invited to a bachelor party, and one of the mornings there was going to be a golf tournament. So, since I have never played before, I took one lesson before the party. Turns out, golf is probably the most difficult sport I have ever played. It took me so long to finally make contact, and then even longer to get some distance.
After my one lesson, I felt more confident than I had before. I was actually making contact. I was proud. Then one day I went to the range with my father-in-law, and I couldn’t hit the damn ball! It was pretty funny actually, but after the first few misses and laughs it became very frustrating. One thing I have learned so far is that everyone has days like that. So now when I have days like this, I don’t get as mad as I used to. I learned to relax. Before I knew it, it was time to go to the bachelor party. I was nervous for the morning of golf we had planned, but it didn’t go as I expected.
I actually did pretty well. I had three great putts and one really nice drive. My team won! Which is hilarious because I was on it. Now I just go to the range after work, or if I have free-time to practice, and it’s a fun hobby that I’ve enjoyed practicing this summer.
With summer coming to an end, I can look forward to the NBA season. The Bulls will be starting in October and I cannot wait to head to the UC (United Center) for some games! To get in the spirit of the NBA season, Lea and I have been watching The Last Dance on Netflix. It’s about the last season MJ’s Bulls team was together, and how they competed for that last championship. It’s a really great documentary and I highly recommend it. No bias here! (lol).
As I wrote about a while ago, Zach LaVine received a HUGE contract from the Bulls, and with that contract and money, comes a HUGE responsibility. He needs to play like a max-player this season and on. He needs to have great offense and even better defense, which is what he has struggled with. Don’t get me wrong, I one-hundred percent believe he can do this. He can play like a max-player and show the league he’s capable of taking this team to a deep playoff run, if not the finals.
Aside from LaVine needing a big season, the rotation players need to step up as well. Ayo Dosunmu, the 22-year-old guard the Bulls picked up last season (I think), is going to have a great year. I’m calling it now. He put on so much muscle and has been practicing non-stop. Just watch and see! Patrick Williams also needs to have a great season. We are going into season 3 now with him, and I know he was hurt and its not his fault, but he hasn’t shown how great of a player he can be just yet. I fully believe he can and will show us this season. Lastly, and once again, we must discuss Lonzo Ball’s health. There are no official reports yet but many people who have pretty good sources within the organization are saying he might be ready to go for the start of the season. We will see. As I’ve said before, he is desperately needed healthy and on the floor. The team is so much more organized with him out there. Let’s go Bulls!
Another thing I have been doing this summer is reading. Lots and lots of reading. I recently finished a series by Andrew Klavan. It’s called Another Kingdom. It’s a truly fascinating story of a man who can travel between worlds. That’s all I will say! The next series I started is from Chris Paras. It is called The Chronicles of Atlantis. I am currently reading the first book of this series: The Age of Immortals. This, too, is a great book. I am really enjoying it and I think some of you will too. It’s fun, it’s interesting, and he just has a way of putting a great picture in your head as you make your way through. Both really fun reads that I recommend!
Other than golfing, waiting for the Bulls season to start, and reading, I haven’t really done much else. It’s been a fun summer to say the least. I hope it’s been going well for all of you too! Time to go make dinner. It’s taco night!
