As many people know, I’m a pretty big Chicago Bulls fan. Always have been and always will be. With that being said, there are some things going on within the organization that I wanted to talk about.
The Bulls ended their 2021-2022 season with a 46-36 record, making them 6th in the Eastern conference. Not bad. Definitely better than previous years. They had a good start to the season–really good– but then after the all-star break, things started to go downhill fast.
First up: Lonzo Ball. In my opinion, he’s great, and the team is much more organized when he’s on the floor. It stinks he only played around 35 games this season. With him injured, the team seemed chaotic and unaware of what was happening most of the time. We definitely need him back stronger next season. Next up: Nikola Vucevic. Okay, maybe it’s just me, but I have no patience for Vuc. Yes, he can be a good player, but he hasn’t been for a majority of the season. The team is finally really good, we have no time to waste waiting for him to get out of his slump. Just like we don’t need or have time for another rebuild. I understand that he’s not going anywhere, so we can only hope that he starts playing better. I would love for him to prove me wrong.
Finally, we will discuss Zach LaVine and his first un-restricted free agency that is coming up. Yes, I saw that he said he is going into it with an open mind, but I honestly think he will stay in Chicago. I’m almost positive they are the only team that can offer him the max contract. I know it’s probably not all about the money, he obviously knows we have a good team –when healthy—but who knows what will happen. There is speculation that Portland is going to go after him hard. There’s also been talk about the Lakers possibly trying to sign him. Who knows what is true these days but, honestly, whatever happens, happens. I don’t think I’d be too upset either way. Who knows, we could get someone even better, with no serious injury history.
Oh, speaking of…what the heck is going on with the bulls trainers/athletic department? Why is it that the players are always hurt for such long periods of time, and never seem to recover normally? And when they do come back, they get hurt again. Something isn’t right there if you ask me. Maybe a change in that department would help the overall health of the Bulls.
But what do I know? I’m just some guy from Indiana on the internet. Hopefully there are some positive changes this off-season. Can’t wait for the NBA to start back up again.
Let’s Go Bulls!
